End of Shadowland?

I have been informed that personal obligations prevent dear Fred from continuing to run Shadowland at Ulana's in Philadelphia. This Saturday will be the last.

...unless someone else decides to pick it up and keep it going. I hear there are interested parties, so keep your fingers crossed.

Anyway, there is a real possibility that this Saturday is the final night, so do come out and see us all again to give the night an unforgettable send-off.

An elegant friend has a well established online shop called The Art of Adornment. She sells her affordable handmade jewelry and accessories as well as pieces from other designers made especially for her store for both men and women.

I recommend her shop for your holiday shopping (or anytime) needs!

Happy Halloween!

me 18th C.
Happy Halloween to all my spooky friends out there! I hope that those of you that can go out have a fabulous evening!

Today is a big day. The last day to finish cleaning out the old apartment and hand in the keys! Then I need a hair cut and run a few errands. THEN a very exciting time: handing out candy for the first time as homeowners! Hopefully there will be time after that to get ready for the Dracula's Ball, but I still have to attach feathers to my outfit. Who's coming to the Ball?

Happy Birthday!

Well, it seems that in my grand old age I still can command a stalker in the goth scene. It would be amusing if I were into drama, but I am not, and I would like this person to abandon this madness.

A message: We barely knew each other! I only met you three or so times and haven't thought of you in months and months. Please ease your mind and abandon this imagined feud. There is no feud. We simply were not a good match and that is all. Just because a friendship didn't work out does not mean we have to automatically become enemies, and I'm sorry you took it that way. My presence at the Drac's Ball will not affect your good time, and you have no conceivable reason to think that it should. That's just silly.

I believe it would help you to move on if you stopped reading my journal. We are not a part of each other's lives, and do not affect each other's lives. This is the first and last time I will discuss this, so please close the chapter and leave my journal because you will not find what you are looking for here.

I am not allowing comments because I am not looking for a response. I am looking for silence between us. Please respect that wish.

One of the things I was most looking forward to was putting up Halloween decorations outside at our new house. They are mostly up...still need a bit more "cobwebs", but I'm generally satisfied!

never ending moving

Spent the whole weekend moving! Ya thought I was done on Oct 11th, didn't you? Ha ha! NO! There was still a ton of stuff at the old place and we had to get some furniture a friend had been storing for us for years. So we spent all of Saturday and Sunday moving and cleaning. Sunday some friends very graciously helped us out so we got a lot more done. Now there are just a few bits and bobs left that J plans to grab each night on the way home from work (since he still works close to the old apt).

Now to go to class and beg beg beg my professor for an extension on the 12(max)page paper she just assigned us on friday due THIS friday. Just not enough time to write that much and do ANYTHING else. I assume the minimum to be 9 pages, but still...I'd have to scrap all my other classes and all the other homework to get it done. What about the kids who take 5 classes and work?? How in the world are they supposed to get a 9-12 page paper done in 6 days with no notice?

STRESS!!

Power is out

Oh no! The power went out at our new house! It's not our breakers, so we called and reported the outage. Luckily, we had to leave right away for dr's appts and then to clean the old apt in KOP.

Edit: Power is back!!

So I seem to be fighting something off and am trying to eat well and get rest. I worked my butt off the past two days to get that book read and the paper done for today, and I feel a bit relieved to have done it. However, the road to catching up on the schoolwork I am behind on because of the move is certainly not over. I have a mid-term on Tuesday and need to read an entire book and study between now and then. Ack! I also have a mid-term paper due on Oct 30th in another class I am literally hundreds of pages behind in readings, but the topic has not been given out yet. I am still hopeful I'll get caught up in time for both!

In other news, I am really excited for the Asylum nightclub reunion tomorrow night. I hope that whatever is creeping around my system goes away so I can attend. So far it's just some congestion and nothing more. Ya needed to know that, didn't you? lol

In cat news, as expected, Zsa Zsa is not taking things well. She is stressed out and now has a bladder infection. Jason is at the vet with her as I type, so she'll be on the road to recovery soon. All the cats but her love all the space. She thinks the house is too big and wants me to stay in a confined area so I am easy to get to. None of this 'running up and down stairs to find me' crap, she says in her little voice I hear in my head (as owners of cats do).

So dorky, but it was exciting to put out the trash for the first time at our new house last night. And when we woke up at 8:30 this morning, the trash was gone! It was so cool! I didn't even hear the trash men and our bedroom windows overlook the street. I must have been tired.

OK, that's enough of me rambling between classes.

Thank you

I want to thank you all again for your very kind words about our first house. Thank you!! We are so happy here. I have my own office and sewing room, and plenty of space for things. My first shower was wonderful! I didn't have to choose "wash hair" or "shave" because there is plenty of hot water for both, and I didn't have to turn off the cold water to get to the end of my shower in comfort. It was hot to the very end. This has been an unheard-of luxury my entire life.

From the driveway to the train platform at Temple University was about 20 minutes yesterday morning. Rock!

Cats are adapting! The two boys love the "old man chair" that was left by the previous owner in the basement. We find this amusing. Zsa Zsa is having a harder time, but that might be because her legs give her trouble (arthritis). She wants everything to be upstairs...food, water, litter boxes...and they are all downstairs. There isn't anywhere to put litter boxes upstairs. Understandably, we don't want litter boxes in our bedroom or offices, and there's no room in the bathroom. We're hoping she gets used to it, and if she doesn't we'll cross that bridge then.

Advice needed:
Now to think about shelving for my fabric stash. I have a section of wall between two closets that is a good spot. Any seamstresses out there have any advice about how deep the shelves should be or any do's and don'ts?
