Crash-N-Burn at the Mile High club

So last night was the debut of Philly's new weekly Friday goth/industrial night, and it was a lot of fun! Saw a few old faces from "the Asylum days" (Tammy and Eric) as well as current friends, and met a few new people, too. The A/C was working just fine and I danced lots. The place could use redecoration (hello '80's), but there's nothing we can do about that. It's just nice to have somewhere to go on a Friday night and hear good music. I liked that there was an area where people could leave the bar/dancefloor room and sit and talk. AND it smelled like bacon on the way in because of the restaurant downstairs, and that's just a bonus in my eyes!

So thank you so much to those who were able to make it out last night and support the new night! I hope to see the rest of you in the coming weeks as your schedule allows.

Cat food change

  • Jul. 3rd, 2009 at 10:40 AM
5 black cats
So we bought a new cat food yesterday for our 4 babies. It's by a company out of Canada called Orijen. The guy at the fancy pet food store that we go to (because we can't find the brands we want at Petco, etc) said they are one of the 1st brands to pioneer making high protein-low carb cat food, which is really good for cats, and ESPECIALLY good for diabetic cats. We've been feeding them a high protein-low carb brand called "Wellness", but we decided to try something new and the cats love it! And it's triangle shaped, like treats, so they think we're giving them treats for meals...hee hee!

Update on Zsa Zsa

Jason has created a website to track Zsa Zsa's progress with the diabetes. It has a page for us to write about our experiences, a page for her blood sugar readings, a page that charts her on-going progress, and a gallery of photos.

Check it out!!
http://zsazsa.neverlight.com/

So if you or anyone you know has a diabetic cat, this might be helpful/supportive for you/them.

See how J loves Zsa Zsa? He's such a good kitty daddy!

OK, it's not a dress, it's a a pj top that I use to wear under corsets when being worn with an actual Victorian dress...but ANYWAY, Dashwood was asleep on the suitcase and I played dress up with him, and he didn't mind, the little Fancy Pants!

HEE HEE HEE!!! He is SO cute. Look at his little back feet sticking out of the bottom of the top!

Trip to Historic Philadelphia

Yesterday I took [info]lolahead's fiance on a day trip to Historic Philadelphia. We visited the Liberty Bell, had lunch at La Scala's, toured Independence Hall, Congress Hall, and then hit the Constitution Center and also the Napoleon Exhibit (where photos were strictly forbidden, and that's a crying shame because it was AMAZING). As a History Major, this trip was very exciting for me. Duncan is a really nice guy and a real trooper for walking all over Old City. Here are a few pics from the day, and I'll pop the rest onto my flickr account.
Inside Independence Hall. Most of the furniture and personal affects (walking sticks, books, papers) are original and belonged to the individual who sat in that particular seat.

Come this way... )

I love you, Baby!

Longwood Gardens

Yesterday, Kambriel, Chris and I got dressed up and went to Longwood Gardens. It was so beautiful, and the weather was spectacular. We walked around for about 4 hours and still didn't see all the grounds! My battery was low, so I only took about 40 photos, so I'm waiting for Kambriel and Chris to get home and send their photos. They took a million!! A lot of people walking around thought we were part of the exhibit and we were frequently stopped for photos. I understand that this sort of thing is to be expected when you're dressed up, but I admit I got a little annoyed a few times because I wanted to walk around and enjoy the gardens, too! The cutest moment was a little girl who thought I was Mary Poppins!

Here are the rest of my photos...more to come later when I get Kambriel and Chris' set.

After Longwood Gardens, we went -in our outfits- directly to Jomar as they had to leave this morning and it was our last chance to go. I got some great trim!! If you live nearby, GO NOW.

K and C left this morning and the house feels so empty and lonely. I've had so much excitement the past few days- party Saturday, Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday, and then Longwood Gardens on Monday - and now I have "post-event blues". I wish it could go on forever!

I want to thank everyone for the delicious food and for helping so much throughout the day. Especially when the rain hit at 5pm!! But we certainly got in enough photos, food, drink, and games before that happened and I had a great time!

And remember: Don't touch the Duke!!

Today they are off to Lancaster for a photo shoot and I'm going to stay here and work on my dress. Wish me luck.

Around the World With a Camera: 1909

Last year while visiting friends I bought a book published in 1910 called Around the World With a Camera. There are photos from around the world depicting people and animals doing every day things as well as a special section for stars of the theatre. Anyway, since it's now beach season, I thought I'd post a photo that was taken near where I live:
